to help companies facilitate the return of
employees to health and work following an
accident or a period of illness.
Referral to an Occupational
Physician
Managers may want to refer an employee to
an Occupational Physician for objective assessment
in situations where, for example, the employee
is:
- absent for a long period due to ill health
- repeatedly absent for short spells
- returning to work after a prolonged absence
- underperforming as a result of a suspected underlying medical problem
This involves a medical consultation in a
suitable location for the employee. The consultation
results in a report to the company detailing
likely return to work timelines, restrictions
or modifications of duties, application of
the Disability Discrimination Act and any
appropriate measures to expedite a return
to health and work for the employee and/or
determine eligibility for early retirement.
Our Approach
With a focus on an early return to work a
multi-disciplinary approach is taken in which
we act in partnership with your organisation's
human resources team to ensure the employee
is managed in the most effective way. We can
also refer employees to our own specialists
to provide advice, support and treatment to
achieve the quickest path to health, and to
workplace rehabilitation.
